Class Description

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is an energetic + physically demanding form of Yoga that integrates breath with movement. You will practice the established half Primary Sequence, so that you can stay present without worrying about which pose comes next... Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga consists of Six Series of asanas (poses), each one building upon the previous last. Every pose has a focus point known as drishti + postures are typically held for a minimum of 5 breaths. To enhance our practice, we will learn to engage the Bandhas (energy locks) which help regulate the breath + retain energy. Additionally, we will connect with the Ocean Breathing technique (known as Ujjayi Pranayama) to optimise our inhalations + exhalations. The advantages of practicing Ashtanga Yoga include mental clarity, increased strength, improved flexibility + enhanced stamina.
